Lāʻieikawai incorporates the traditional Hawaiian performance forms of hula (dance), mele (song/poetry), oli (chant) and hula kiʻi (puppetry) in this drama performed exclusively in the Hawaiian Language.

Lāʻieikawai is told through the emotion and body language of the performers as well as the song and hula. Speakers and non-speakers of the Hawaiian language will be equally awed by the re-telling of this history.
