The Annual Albatross Census: A Midway Experience

Louise Barnfield

Each year, a team of volunteers is selected to conduct the Annual Albatross Census on Midway Atoll, at the far end of the Hawaiian Northwest Islands.  This is a unique opportunity to experience the wildlife on those remote islands, surrounded by hundreds of thousands of albatross.  Louise Barnfield, a volunteer at the Kilauea Point National Wildlife Refuge and the Hanalei National Wildlife Refuge, will provide an insight into the history and current life on Midway, illustrated with photos of the islands and birds.
