Puanani Anderson-Fung of the University of Hawaii’s Botany Department will examine the fascinating ties between plants and language in Hawaii, Tonga, New Zealand, and other Pacific islands. Puanani, a self-described ‘ethnobotanical linguistic detective,’ uses Hawaiian culture and science to unravel the mystery of how plant names change across the Pacific.
