The Kauai Philippine Cultural Center Mission Statement
To provide, promote and enhance cultural, educational training and social programs as well as cross cultural exchanges in our multi-ethnic environment.
It began with a dream and evoked the realization of the interwoven tapestry of Hawaii’s diversity of cultures…..and, thus, has evolved to become….
“A Place for All!”
The business plan has been completed and on May 6, 2013 Governor Neil Abercrombie signed and presented a $1.5 million check to Mayor Bernard Carvalho, Jr. for Kauai Philippine Cultural Center, or KPCC. The Grove Farm Company has given KPCC a 50 year lease on land next to the YMCA swimming pool in Puhi.
On Saturday, May 11 over 500 people gathered at the Kauai Marriott Resort in support of the 2nd Annual Fundraiser for the Kauai Philippine Cultural Center. The program “Beats & Rhythms of Hawaii” was a true testament to the best renderings available on the island. Dance interpretation with percussion beats of the Filipino culture, Ukulele instrumental mastery of the Portuguese culture, Chants and Kahiko by Kane Ka Leo O Laka Ika Hikina O ka la Kaleo Trinidad, Taiko Drum beats of Japan by Master Akiko and Wahine Kahiko by Merrie Monarch winning entry Halau Ka Lei Mokihana O Leina`ala Pavao Jardin.
Truly a showcase of cultural artistry from Kauai.
Everyone enjoyed a night of culture & aloha along with a delicious buffet dinner plus the company of family, friends and neighbors in support of KPCC.
