The National Tropical Botanical Garden (NTBG) and Kaua‘i Community College (KCC) partnership continues on Tuesday, April 17 at 5:30 p.m. with the fourth in the Earth Matters public lecture series in the KCC Campus Center Cafeteria.

Join Limahuli Garden and Preserve Director Dr. Kawika Winter as he presents a talk on Pacific Island communities and the lessons they offer in the face of climate change. Dr. Winter will discuss research that examines indigenous communities in Hāʻena on Kauaʻi, Kaʻūpūlehu on Hawaiʻi Island, and Kubulau in Fiji. In his talk, Dr. Winter will explain how these communities are adapting their mountain-to-sea resource management and maximizing resilience. The National Science Foundation-funded research highlights the value of combining traditional resource management with modern research tools, offering valuable insights for resource managers and policy makers in the Pacific.
