Join us for a workshop and dinner at the Monkeypod Jam shop in Lawai!
Karli Capp, an artist living and working in Kaua’i, will present this indigo dye workshop. Karli has a degree in studio art from the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa and has spent the last three years extensively researching and experimenting with natural dyes. Indigo is an ancient natural dye extracted from plants that transforms fabrics into beautiful blues. It is a great introduction to natural dyes and all skill levels are welcome!
Workshop participants will explore different ways to fold and clamp fabrics inspired by ancient Japanese shibori techniques. Each participant will dye and take home a five pack of cotton tea towels. The results are immediately rewarding as patterns are unfolded and revealed–each piece unique and one-of-a-kind!
