In conjunction with the Smithsonian Magazine Museum Live Day, Waioli Corporation is hosting a FREE Ohana Day at three of its historic sites on Saturday, September 24, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  At Grove Farm museum at 4050 Nawiliwili Road in Lihue you can experience some of the Kauai island and sugar history strolling through the buildings and around the grounds.  The Gift Shop will be open as well.  At the Locomotive Learning Park on Haleko Road in Lihue (across from the old Lihue mill) you can take a ride in replica cane cars behind an historic Hawaii steam locomotive and be transported from present day Lihue back to a time when sugar coated the island.  And in Hanalei at 05-5373 Kuhio Highway (behind the Waioli Park), enjoy guided tours of the 1836 Waioli Mission House, which was home to missionary teachers Abner and Lucy Wilcox and today continues as a quiet touchstone to the missionary efforts on Kauai.
