Island School’s four choral ensembles, Island School Alaka’i Chorus, Island School Kahikina Chorus, Island School ‘Opio Chorus, Island School Keiki Chorus, together comprising the Island School Chorus, take the stage again at the Kaua’i Community College Performing Arts Center on Wednesday, December 9 to present their annual winter concert.

Winter ‘Round the World showcases over 115 students singing songs encompassing a range of style, genre, and form, exploring global themes – peace, friendship, security, and, of course, the celebration of life.

Philip Steinbacher, choral conductor at Island School since the chorus’s inception in 2006 remarks, “We’re taking a slightly different approach to the standard ‘Christmas around the world’ concert that every chorus invariably performs at some point in their existence. This concert includes music from various countries and cultures across the globe and, while many are Christmas songs, some are not. Some compositions reflect other winter holidays and some are not even about holidays at all. Some of the countries and cultures whose music is presented include Austria, Brazil, Canada, Catalonia, Congo, France, Ireland, Italy, Jamaica, Korea, Poland, Russia, Spain, Sweden, and the United States.

Tickets adults $10, ages 3-17 $5
