The state Department of Land and Natural Resources, in partnership with the University of Hawai‘i Sea Grant College Program and Kaua‘i Community College, will be holding its second community informational meeting on sea level rise vulnerability and adaptation at KCC this Friday at 5:30 p.m.
The Hawai‘i Sea Level Rise Vulnerability and Adaptation Report was released last December by the Hawai‘i Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Commission (see http://climateadaptation.hawaii.gov/ to access the report).
This meeting will provide an overview of the report’s science, results and recommendations, and help to answer people’s questions about impacts of sea level rise. It will also be an opportunity to discuss issues and concerns regarding sea level rise preparedness and adaptation on Kaua‘i.
Part of the session will be an interactive training using the Hawai‘i Sea Level Rise Viewer, an online mapping tool companion to the State Sea Level Rise Report available at hawaiisealevelriseviewer.org.
The meeting will be at KCC Office of Continuing Education, Room 106 C/D from 5:30-7 p.m.
Anyone with special needs requiring accommodations or assistance, is asked to please contact Ruby Pap at 241-4183 by Wednesday.
