Thierry Work is a wildlife disease specialist and project leader of the U.S. Geological Survey National Wildlife Health Center Honolulu Field Station, where he studies diseases of terrestrial and marine wildlife in Hawaii and the Pacific. He will speak about Toxoplasma Gondii, a parasite that infects all warm-blooded animals (mammals and birds). Topics to be covered will include the biology and life cycle of the parasite, its lethal and sub-lethal effects on animals, its public health importance, and its impact on Hawaii’s native birds and mammals.
