‘Paint the Town Pink’ for Cancer Awareness Wednesday 

The Kaua‘i Committee on the Status of Women is inviting the public to help them to “Paint the Town Pink” in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The annual walk will start at the Līhu‘e Civic Center Mo‘ikeha Building on Wednesday at 11:15 a.m.

Bev Brody, of Get Fit Kaua‘i, will start the group off with an energetic warm-up. Walkers will then head down Kūhiō Highway to Wilcox Hospital and back to the Mo‘ikeha Building.

Participants are encouraged to wear anything pink to show support for breast cancer awareness and to remind the public of the importance of early detection.

The American Cancer Society’s Breast and Cervical Cancer Program will provide brochures and other educational materials about cancer awareness.

The KCSW is hosting the walk in recognition of October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an annual international health campaign promoted by major cancer organizations.

The KCSW is part of the Hawai‘i State Commission on the Status of Women, which strives to advance the status of women and girls by acting as a catalyst for positive chance through advocacy, education, collaboration and program development.

The KCSW meets on the third Wednesday of the month. All KCSW meetings are open to the public.
