OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERASheraton Kaua‘i Resort announced this week the University of Hawai‘i Foundation’s Wai‘ale‘ale Project at Kaua‘i Community College has been selected as its beneficiary for the Table 53 program in February.

Net proceeds for all food and beverage from Table #53 in the oceanfront RumFire Po‘ipu Beach restaurant will be used to fund scholarships for high school students and adults toward the attainment of an Associate’s degree.

UH Foundation’s mission is to unite donors’ passions with UH’s aspirations by raising philanthropic support and managing private investments to benefit UH, the people of Hawai‘i and their future generations, a press release states.

The Wai‘ale‘ale Project at Kaua‘i Community College encourages continued education by benefitting those who have never been to college and never considered attending college as an option prior to the foundation’s support.

The project is funded by a generous donor and other community foundations, offering eligible Kaua’i and Ni’ihau residents an opportunity to try college for free. The program provides scholarships and academic support to participants to attain certificates and associates degrees at KCC or just to try taking a few college courses.

So far, the Table 53 program has raised more than $130,000 for worthy causes since its inception in October 2012.

RumFire Po‘ipu Beach restaurant features locally sourced cuisine with global influences and exotic cocktails over 180-degree oceanfront views from all of its 240 seats.

Table 53 features private booth seating overlooking the beautifully landscaped Ocean Courtyard, inviting fire pits and stunning sunsets. Guests can enjoy nightly specials and signature RumFire favorites all while supporting a cause. The resort encourages guests, “The more you dine, the more we donate.”

RumFire encourages guests who are interested in participating in the Table 53 program to make reservations in advance by calling 808.742.4786 and requesting Table 53. Net proceeds for all food and beverage at the table during dinner service will be donated to the Wai‘ale‘ale Project at KCC, gratuity will be paid to the server and taxes will be remitted to the State of Hawai‘i.
