The sounds of country twang and honky tonk are taking over the Kilohana Plantation in Līhu‘e for one night with a performance by award-winning musical artist Willie K. The 6th Annual Hoedown For Hope, Kaua‘i’s premier gala to benefit the American Cancer Society, will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2014, from 5:00 to 10:30 p.m. at Kilohana Plantation.

Give your valentine the gift of giving at this one-of-a-kind event on Kaua‘i. In addition to music and dancing, the Hoedown For Hope offers a variety of activities, including gourmet westernfare, live and silent auction, and a western town filled with games of challenge.

Local country western musical group Best of the West has reunited and will open for Willie K at the event and Kauai boy Duane Shimogawa of Pacific Business News will serve as this year’s emcee.

Up for auction at this year’s event includes a 2015 NBA All-Star Weekend Package in New York City for two that includes All-Star game tickets, All-star Saturday Night event tickets, rookie challenge tickets and more.  2013 World Series Champion baseball player Shane Victorino of the Boston Red Sox has donated baseball memorabilia that will be auctioned away to the highest bidder.

Doctor Robert S. Weiner will be recognized as the recipient of this year’s Hope Award for his care for patients, giving of hope and support of the American Cancer Society.

At a special VIP party held in November 2013, King Auto Center signed on to be this year’s first Gold Buckle sponsor with a donation of $10,000 to the Hoedown For Hope. DuPont Pioneer and an anonymous donor also committed to the event as a Silver Buckle sponsors.

“Gold Buckle Sponsor King Auto Center has stepped up since the inception of this gala and continues to give generously every year. We are so fortunate to have so many local businesses that lend their support to the well-being of Kaua‘i’s Community through our event,” said Hoedown For Hope co-chair Laura Lee.

The doors open at 5:00 p.m. for general admission. Tickets are $125 per person or $1500 per reserved table.

The American Cancer Society’s goal is to raise $50,000 to help fund cancer-related programs both nationally and in Kaua‘i’s community. The focus for 2014 is to continue assistance for patients on Kaua‘i with airfare for radiation treatment and other medical needs and procedures not available on Kaua‘i, raise money for Hope Lodge, as well as further cancer research.
