MICHAEL YOUNG NAMED CHEF DE CUISINE AT SHERATON KAUAI RESORT

Sheraton Kauai Resort is proud to announce the appointment of Michael Young to Chef de Cuisine. In his position, Chef Young’s primary focus will be to oversee the kitchen at the resort’s signature restaurant and oceanfront hotspot, RumFire Poipu Beach, home to the Table 53 program.

A seasoned culinary professional, Chef Young has over 25 years of experience from the front of the house to opening his own restaurant, Olives Café & Wine Bar, in Washington. He holds an A.O.S. in Culinary Arts from the California Culinary Academy and also trained at Aqua San Francisco under the tutelage of Michelin Star-rated and two-time, James Beard award-winning Chef Michael Mina. Previously a chef at Merriman’s Fish House on Kaua‘i, Chef Young returns to the island following his most recent role as Restaurant Chef at The Grand Wailea on Maui.

Chef Young’s philosophy in the kitchen is to let the fresh ingredients he works with shine, and he has ignited inspiration to the RumFire menu through the incorporation of new, locally sourced items such as Ni‘ihau lamb and Makaweli beef to highlight the island’s bounty.
